Nutrition services provide patients with support through therapeutic diets, education and counseling, and alternative nutrition therapies such as enteral feeding. Services may focus on overall health and well-being or may be a part of a treatment for specific diseases, injury, or acute illness.
At Franklin Memorial Hospital these services are provided by registered dietitians and dietetic technicians. Maine requires that registered dietitians and technicians be licensed by the Board of Dietetic Practice and is a requirement for these providers at MaineHealth.
Registered dietitians provide reliable nutrition information and use evidence-based practice that is specific to patients’ nutritional goals.
