Investing in the Future of Healthcare
Stephens Memorial Hospital 2021 Annual Fund
For over 60 years Stephens Memorial Hospital and friends like you have championed the need for quality healthcare in western Maine. From its humble beginnings to our current facility the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital has been able to provide exceptional medical care because of the commitment of our staff and the generous financial support from our community.
As your local community hospital, we rely on the generous support of important friends like you to meet the hospital’s ongoing needs. In the past few years donations to Stephens Memorial Hospital from generous community members have allowed us to purchase much needed equipment, participate in the Maine Medical Center/Tufts Medical student program and provide funds to relocate and expand our cancer program. These have been important investments in delivering quality care to our patients. We know that you deserve and expect quality healthcare services, and we continue to work hard to deliver it. Your support will provide crucial funding to meet our community’s healthcare needs of everyone – regardless of their ability to pay.
This year, our 2021 Annual Fund has been designated to help fund the purchase of new breast tomosynthesis scanner for our women’s imaging department. This new digital technology, now the standard of care for breast imaging, will improve the ability to diagnose breast cancer, even in people who have no signs or symptoms. This scanner produces a 3D mammogram by combining multiple breast X-rays to create a three-dimensional picture of the breast. This new breast imaging technique will make breast cancers easier to see in dense breast tissue and will make breast screening more comfortable for patients.
We are committed to ensuring residents of the Stephens community receive excellent, high quality care close to home. This investment in imaging technology ensures that we will deliver on this commitment.
