Jody Telfair-Richards
Jody Telfair-Richards had a great routine going. She’d wake up, read in bed, then practice Tai Chi. But one morning that routine was disrupted when she felt a jolt in her arm and began having a stroke. Channeling her Tai Chi practice, Jody was calm on her way to her local ER at LincolnHealth and throughout her care. Through video conference, the team connected Jody to a specialist at Maine Medical Center who explained the clot-busting tPa procedure.
“I am a truly lucky person to be located near a small local hospital with emergency treatment available to me” explained Jody. “Had I been forced to wait until after the long ambulance ride for the tPA treatment, I may well not have recovered.”
Jody received the tPa, then transferred to Maine Med with a nurse from Lincoln’s ER by her side. Today, Jody’s days remain filled with good books and Tai Chi. Her outlook on life – and her support for local hospitals – is stronger than ever.
