Cynthia Thibeault

Cynthia Thibeault and her husband moved to Tamworth, NH in May of 2018 from Waterford, CT and were getting acquainted with their new community. They had fallen in love with the popular Conway, New Hampshire area after years of visiting as vacationers. About a month after arriving, Cynthia woke up on a Sunday morning with some tightness in her chest. Her existing arthritic condition made her think that the feeling was just another normal “ache and pain” that she was familiar with, but the pressure persisted. She took a few aspirin and decided to wait it out.  At 3:00 am the next morning, after cycling through many other possibilities in her mind, such as gas or fatigue from moving, she realized she was nauseated and that it was time to seek medical attention. Upon arrival at Memorial Hospital in Conway, Cynthia learned that she had suffered a heart attack and would be transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

With further tests it was determined that one of Cynthia’s arteries was more than 90% blocked, with the others functioning at only 70-80%. Surgery was scheduled the next day with cardiac surgeon Dr. Jeremy Estrada, who placed a stent in her arteries to allow many more years of cardiac health.

Happily, Cynthia has been restored to full health and is able to rejoin her new neighbors in the Conway community with her high-school sweetheart of 43 years. She enjoys crafts, flower gardening and especially watercolor painting, and is grateful for the care and compassion she received at Memorial Hospital and Maine Medical Center. She is in the process of selecting a primary care provider for continued care and in the interim receives on-site cardiology support at Memorial from Maine Medical Center cardiologists.
