Families of children and adolescents in psychiatric crisis can turn to the Maine Medical Center Emergency Department for expert intervention services, resolution, and discharge to the home or to an appropriate provider of psychiatric care. The department functions in close coordination with Spring Harbor Hospital and multiple community agencies to avert hospitalization whenever possible.
