How do I get a COVID-19 test at SMHC?

SMHC performs COVID-19 testing for people with (symptomatic) or without (asymptomatic) COVID-19 symptoms. All COVID-19 tests require an appointment to ensure patient and care team safety.

  • Symptomatic Testing: AN APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, make an appointment at our SanfordSaco, or Waterboro Walk-In locations.     
  • Asymptomatic Testing: AN APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED. If you do not have COVID-19 symptoms but believe you may have been exposed OR require a test for special circumstances (such as participation in a school or work activity), asymptomatic tests are available by appointment only.

All patients and visitors must wear a mask covering both nose and mouth. Visitors are restricted to minors and those requiring assistance. Most insurance providers will cover the cost of the test.

How do I get my test result?

Test results are available through our patient portal, MyChart. Information on MyChart registration will be provided at the time of the test. Patients will be called with positive results. Negative COVID results (but only these results) for children 12-17 will also be visible to parents in MyChart.

What should I do if my test result is positive?

Social distancing, wearing a mask, and practicing hand hygiene are still the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Learn more about how to protect yourself and your family.
