Saint Joseph’s offers staff a diversity of training and education resources to help you achieve your career goals. These resources include our Student Loan Repayment Program for Registered Nurses, tuition assistance, ongoing professional education, mentoring and promotion opportunities. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training – Our CNA program is tuition-free and includes classroom work, skills labs and clinical experiences. While enrolled, students can serve in a paid position as a Nursing Assistant in Training and upon course completion, take the state CNA exam to obtain the state-required CNA certification. Other educational opportunities for clinical staff include IV, Wound and Geriatric certifications.

Director of Nursing, RN

The Director of Nursing organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of our Nursing Department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards. This position works closely with the Administrator and Medical Director to provide and maintain the highest quality of resident centered care. Must be available evenings and weekends as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing degree from an accredited college or university. BSN preferred

The RN Nurse Supervisor supervises the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during assigned shift. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse is to be clinically competent while delivering care to residents utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse is clinically competent while delivering care to residents utilizing the nursing process of observation, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides each resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by the nursing supervisors.

Certified Medical Technician

Certified Med Techs assist in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, procedures and practices of Saint Joseph’s and the requirements of the state of Maine.

MDS Coordinator

The MDS Coordinator conducts and coordinates the development, timely and accurate completion, and submission of the resident MDS assessment in accordance with the requirements of this state, RAI manual, and the policies and goals of this facility. Assess residents utilizing the MDS form to provide both quality and payment information. Your work must be in accordance with the current established Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, contribute to the philosophy and goals of the organization (i.e., positive and respectful attitude) and attend committees and meeting s as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Registered Nurse in the State of Maine or compact licensure
• ADN required, BSN preferred
• Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology and procedure
• Has working knowledge of RUG IV, Case Mix & PDPM reimbursement, and the impacts to care and other services with minimum of one year of MDS experience
• Familiarity of the RAI manual and ICD 10 coding
• Knowledge of MDS submission process and interpretation of validation reports
• MDS certification (AANAC) required within 6 months
• Must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced ever evolving environment

Receptionist

The Receptionist performs clerical support in an efficient manner in accordance with established procedures, and as directed by your supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operate paging/telephone system as required.
• Follow emergency preparedness manual and procedures during such events.
• Answer telephone; determine nature of call and direct caller to appropriate individual or department.
• Receive request from within the facility and locate personnel via phone or email.
• Receive inquiries and release information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Conduct and record screenings of any and all staff/individuals entering the building and ensure that proper PPE is utilized as directed.
• Greet visitors, directing to appropriate office and/or resident room.

Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the grounds, facility, equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisor, to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.

Dietary Aide

The Dietary Aide provides assistance in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. Works directly with Cook, Prep Cook and other Dietary Aides to ensure quality food service for the residents of our facility.

Neighborhood Assistant

The primary purpose of the Neighborhood Assistant is to assist nursing services with providing non-direct care services and support to our residents. Answers call bells and meets resident non-direct care needs in a timely manner (including residents on all assignments).

Cook

The primary purpose of the Cook position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, as well as guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Food Services Director or Kitchen Supervisor, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

Prep Cook

The Prep Cook prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, as well as guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Food Services Director or Kitchen Supervisor, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times. Review menus prior to preparation of food. Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident. Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc. and submit to the Food Services Director.

Housekeeper

The Housekeeper performs day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Director of Facilities, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Ensures that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical. Communicates each morning with nursing services to coordinate daily housekeeping services in resident living and or/recreational areas.

Laundry 

The primary purpose of the Laundry position is to perform day-to-day activities of the Laundry department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Director of Facilities, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, and that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents. Positions Applicable: CNA, RN, RN Nurse Supervisor, and Certified Medication Tech (CNA - M)

Program Overview:

  • Work 24 hours and get paid for 32 hours; work 36 hours and get paid for 48 hours (Baylor bonus $6.00)
  • Employees eligible for weekend and shift differential as applicable
  • Baylor bonus applied to actual hours worked included in Baylor program. Additional hours picked up are paid at the base rate plus a shift differential and offered bonus at that time, if applicable.
  • This is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits.
  • Employee must work at least 8 hours per work week. For example: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7 am - 3 pm, or Saturday and Sunday 7 pm -7:30 am and Wednesday 7 pm - 7:30 am
  • Employee eligible for 4 weekends off per year
  • Employee forfeits Baylor bonus for all hours if there were an unplanned absence
  • New Baylor Program hires are eligible for a sign-on bonus

Purpose

  • Provide mentally, physically, and socially engaging activities to residents on weekends to improve quality of life.

Duties

  • Plan and implement group activities with residents
  • Engage with residents in 1:1 when they do not wish to attend group activities
  • Distribute daily newsletter to inform residents of scheduled activities
  • Maintain cleanliness in activities spaces
  • Maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to residents, staff, and business operations, and adhere to all HIPAA standards.
  • Represent Resident Engagement department in a professional manner throughout the facility Follow guidelines for PPE use to limit the spread of infection

Qualifications

  • Experience working in elder care preferred
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED 

Purpose

  • Provide therapeutic recreational activities for residents in the dementia care unit to improve quality of life and reduce negative behaviors.

Duties 

  • Implement therapeutic activities into individual and group sessions and monitor progress
  • Plan and facilitate events and community outings
  • Maintain resident records documenting treatment and progress notes
  • Maintain cleanliness in activities spaces
  • Maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to residents, staff, and business operations, and adhere to all HIPAA standards.
