Lawrence R Ricci, MD

Child Abuse Pediatrics, Pediatrics
I am dual residency trained and successfully completed my boards in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, and Child Abuse Pediatrics. I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of abused children as medical director of the Spurwink Child Abuse Program in Portland. I started this program in 1986 - originally in Waterville, then later Portland. The Child Abuse Program is a multidisciplinary statewide referral center for Maine children with satellites in Waterville and Bangor. The program evaluates over 1,000 children and 250 adults annually for abuse concerns. The team consists of myself, nurse practitioners, masters level social work forensic interviewers, and doctoral level psychologists. I spend time at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital training pediatric residents in clinical settings and monthly didactic sessions. I also perform approximately 40 inpatient child abuse consults a year at BBCH.
