Anne Marie Cairns, DO

Anne Marie Cairns

I came to Maine Medical Center in 1995 to start the pediatric pulmonary division so that families would not have to go to Boston to get treatment. My division has since grown to four doctors and a nurse practitioner. I entered pediatric pulmonary because I found the treatment of children with chronic respiratory illness, particularly asthma and cystic fibrosis to be so rewarding. I have personal experience with the challenges of coping with a chronic condition and I want to use every tool I have try and alleviate the difficulties of the child with chronic respiratory symptoms and the stress it places on the parents. I want to help the family learn the self-management skills to let that child lead a full and happy life. I understand that respiratory illness can be very frightening and stressful for parents.
