Physicians Join Maine Medical Partners

PORTLAND, Maine — Maine Medical Partners announces the following new hires.

Melanie Rand, DO, has joined the Weight & Wellness Program at Maine Medical Center. Dr. Rand received her degree in osteopathic medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford and completed her residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center Family Practice in Bangor. She is Board certified in obesity medicine and family medicine. Dr. Rand grew up in Maine and lives with her family in Brunswick. She enjoys yoga, gardening, cross country skiing and summer.

Crystal Fox, MD profile imageCrystal Fox, MD, has joined Maine Medical Partners - Hospital Medicine. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Fox earned her medical degree from Trinity School of Medicine in Saint Vincent, West Indies. She completed her residency at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL where she stayed on as a hospitalist and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Fox’s clinical interests include academic medicine and global health. When she isn’t working, Dr. Fox enjoys travel, outdoor adventures and spending time with her family.

Amy Buczkowski, MDAmy Buczkowski, MD profile image, has recently joined Maine Medical Partners - Pediatric Hospital Medicine. After earning her bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from North Carolina State University, she went on to earn her medical degree at the University of North Carolina. She then completed her residency in pediatrics at Maine Medical Center, which included an additional year acting as chief resident. Her clinical interests include pediatric hospital medicine, newborn care, quality improvement and medical education. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors with her family.

Richard Royal, MD profile imageRichard E Royal, MD, FACS has joined Maine Medical Partners – Surgical Care, in the Division of Surgical Oncology. He joins us from the MD Anderson Cancer Center where he was a tenured professor in surgery. Prior to that, he was a senior investigator at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Royal received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University, School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Maryland. He went on to complete several fellowships including two fellowships in surgical oncology, at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and the National Cancer Institute. His clinical interests include the care of patients with melanoma and skin cancers, as well as patients with rare GI tumors including peritoneal disease. He is an expert in the delivery of regional therapy for cancer including limb perfusion, liver perfusion and HIPEC. He has extensive research in the immunotherapy of melanoma and pancreas cancer and has been involved in promoting the interdisciplinary care of patients at a national level.

Benjamina D Dolinsek Razsa, MD profile imageBenjamina Razsa, MD, has joined Maine Medical Partners - Hospital Medicine. Dr. Razsa is Board certified in internal medicine and received her medical degree from University of Ljubljana Medical School in Slovenia. She completed her residency here at Maine Medical Center. Dr. Razsa’s clinical interests include general internal medicine. When not working, she enjoys hiking, running, camping and skiing.


Rena Paris, MD profile imageRena Paris, MD, has joined Maine Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Paris just completed her residency here at Maine Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident of Inpatient Psychiatry. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College in NY. Dr. Paris’s clinical interests include neuropsychiatry, geriatrics, and psychotic disorders. Outside of work, she enjoys travel, literature and theater, and is a Steelers fan.


Brock Libby, MD profile imageBrock Libby, MD, has recently joined Maine Medical Partners – South Portland Pediatrics. After earning his bachelor of science degree in biology and bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of Maine, he went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Vermont. He then completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Virginia, which included an additional year acting as chief resident. He culminated his training in 2019 with an adolescent medicine fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His clinical interests include LGBTQ youth, hormonal contraception and young men’s health. In his spare time, Dr. Libby enjoys reading, watching movies and being outside hiking and camping.

Raymond M Klein, MD profile imageRaymond Klein, MD, has joined Maine Medical Partners – Hospital Medicine. Dr. Klein received his medical degree from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he was chief resident. During his chief year, Dr. Klein was an instructor at the Geisel School of Medicine and worked as a hospitalist physician at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the affiliated VA Medical Center. His professional interests include hospital medicine, medical education and quality improvement. When not working, Dr. Klein is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys skiing, tennis and hiking as well as watching professional and college sports.

Jason Moran, MD profile imageJason Moran, MD, has recently joined Maine Medical Partners – Medical Oncology as a new medical hematologist/oncologist. He specializes in hematologic diseases, including benign disorders of hemostasis/thrombosis and benign blood cell disorders. He also cares for patients with blood cancers. He completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, where he served as chief medical resident, chief fellow, and served as an instructor at Harvard Medical School. He also completed a transitional year of residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital in anatomic and clinical pathology before focusing on internal medicine and hematology-oncology at BIDMC. Dr. Moran graduated valedictorian at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., where he earned his medical degree.
