TeleHealth Services at Western Maine Primary Care

March 30, 2018

Western Maine Primary Care is excited to announce the successful implementation of specialty to primary care telehealth services. Under the administrative leadership of Gregory Hardy, MD, CMO, Western Maine Primary Care has partnered with Chest Medicine Associates of  South Portland to provide specialty services via telehealth in the primary care office.

A team from MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization, Western Maine Primary Care and Chest Medicine Associates (CMA) have been working to bring this to fruition since April, 2017.  The services include equipment that allows the CMA physician to listen to the heart and lungs during the telehealth visit.  The medical assistant from Western Maine Primary Care attends the visit with the patient and the CMA physician as a support for this environment.

Services have been well received by patients.  This allows people in our community the opportunity to receive specialty care in their own primary care office without having to drive to the specialty office, which is many times a challenge and a barrier for patients to receive services.
