May 09, 2017

Stephens Memorial Hospital’s (SMH) Physical Rehabilitation Department Manager, Lissa Merrill, PT is pleased to announce that Amy Bottomley, PT, DPT, has just completed advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation training at Emory University in Georgia.

This six day intensive course focused on helping patients with dizziness and balance disorders and included the most up to date evidence based practice for helping patients with benign proximal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular hypofunction (Meniere’s disease or a history of an acute vertigo attack), and balance deficits.  There were four hands-on practical exams, where Bottomley was tested on her evaluation, treatment and critical thinking skills while working with patients. She also took one video exam of oculomotor findings, and one written test.
