2017 Annual Report: High-Quality Lab Services at Rural Health Centers

NorDx Brings Lab Services to Underserved Populations

Federally qualified health centers serve a critical need in providing health care access to an often underserved patient population throughout the U.S. These health centers offer a host of services, such as general health, dentistry, prenatal care, mental health and laboratory services. They serve as an access point to the health system for patients requiring preventive and acute care.

MaineHealth member NorDx provides high-quality laboratory services to more than two dozen of these health centers throughout Maine and New Hampshire. Many of these health centers are located in rural areas with limited access to health care. NorDx has developed a network of phlebotomists and third-party couriers whose assistance allow for rural health clinics to offer high-quality testing. NorDx’s partnership with federally qualified health centers also includes matching their sliding fee schedules -- based on ability to pay -- to assist those most in need.
