Healthy Payback Program

MaineHealth wants to help you explore new and different ways to get excited about wellness, movement, to thrive, and to nourish outside the office or clinical setting. All MaineHealth employees are eligible for the Healthy Payback Program, which puts dollars back in your pocket for participating in health and wellness activities. This is a taxable benefit.

  • You are eligible for up to $100 reimbursement per payback session for participating in qualified wellness programs. See below.
  • Track activities and complete reimbursement forms in the Virgin Pulse app or by logging in online. If you do not have a Virgin Pulse account, join today.
  • Healthy Payback forms are located under the home/Rewards section of the platform.

Payback Periods – activities and payment must be conducted in the six month period below:

  • Payback Period One: 1/1 - 6/30 (submission due by 6/30)
  • Payback Period Two: 7/1 - 12/31 (submission due by 12/31)

The Healthy Payback reimbursement form is located under the home/Rewards section of Virgin Pulse.

  • Step 1: Register for a Virgin Pulse account at join.virginpulse.com/mainehealth. Already a member? Sign in at member.virginpulse.com.
  • Step 2: Click on the home button and select Rewards.
  • Step 3: On the Rewards page, you will find a section for action rewards titled “Healthy Payback Program.” Select the appropriate segment that matches the closest value of your reimbursement receipt.
  • Step 4: Complete the required fields and upload your receipt.
  • Step 5: Reimbursements will be awarded via Virgin Pulse Cash and are available to all care team members, including Per Diems within one business day upon completion of the form.

For the mobile app, follow these instructions:

  • You are eligible for up to $100 reimbursement per payback session for participating in qualified wellness programs.
  • Reimbursement will be delivered via Virgin Pulse cash. You can decide if your reimbursement goes into bank account or on a gift card. You can also donate to a cause or shop the Virgin Pulse store.
  • To experience a quick return on your wellness activities engagement, be sure to submit reimbursement forms throughout the Healthy Payback period. Dated proof of payment must align and fall within with the current period timeframe.

What activities are eligible for Healthy Payback?

With the Healthy Payback Program, you can get reimbursed for lots of health and wellness activities. Plus, get additional discounts through PerkSpot! Explore discounts from local businesses through Perkspot. View discounts.

Eligible Activities

  • Community-supported agriculture shares (any item except alcohol)
  • Health education classes (healthy cooking, sleep, health coach, etc.)

Fitness/Movement

  • Gym membership (includes classes such as cycling, yoga, kickboxing, etc.)
  • Recreational sports teams (e.g. soccer, softball, MH Track, bowling leagues)
  • Online fitness memberships (e.g Beach Body, Peloton, mobile applications)
  • Season passes / memberships (e.g. State Park Pass, golf & ski resorts)
  • Horseback riding
  • Registration / entry fee (e.g. 5k, 10k, Mud Run, etc.)
  • If you are a member of the MaineHealth Fitness facility at 110 Free St., please see your on-site contact for a reimbursement form

Stress Management

  • Stress Free Now online program (offered by Cleveland Clinic)
  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction or any stress reduction program offered by MaineHealth

Not Eligible

  • General grocery / food / alcohol
  • Parenting classes
  • Childbirth education
  • Nutrisavings
  • Personal items and equipment you purchase such as DVDs, exercise equipment, gear and fitness game systems
  • Charitable donations
  • Activities covered by the MaineHealth health plan or the flexible spending account reimbursement, even if you do not participate in the health plan or FSA
  • Certifications, CEU programs or other classes covered by tuition assistance
  • Programs that require the purchase of supplements or other prescribed weight loss aids
  • Activities that you do not pay for such as teaching exercise classes or walking outside
