Robert Ecker,MD Presents at Dixon Lecture
The annual Walter G. Dixon Lecture was held on Tuesday, November 4th in the Harper Conference Center of Stephens Memorial Hospital. This year's presentation, “Endovascular Intervention for Acute Stroke” was presented by Dr. Robert Ecker.
Dr. Ecker is the Director of Endovascular/Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery, Neuroscience Medical Director at Maine Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and then completed his residency training at the Mayo Clinic (specialty: Neurological Surgery), and a fellowship in Endovascular Neurology at the University of Buffalo. Dr. Ecker is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Walter Dixon, MD was an orthopedic surgeon at Stephens Memorial Hospital for 45 years, retiring in 1984. The medical staff of Stephens Memorial Hospital established the Dixon Fund in honor of Dr. Dixon’s years of service, to help defray the cost of speakers coming to the area for continuing medical education for physicians and staff. The first Dixon lecture was held in 1986 and has become an annual event.
