Oxford Hills Internal Medicine Welcomes Debra Johnson, RN, FNP-C

Timothy A. Churchill, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Maine Health is pleased to announce that Debra Johnson, Nurse Practitioner, has joined Oxford Hills Internal Medicine.  Debra will complement the services currently provided by Dr. William Medd, Dr. David Kumaki, Dr. Francis Kieliszek, Dr. Peter Harbage and Dr. Brian Nolan.

Debra’s journey started back in 1983.  A graduate of Oxford Hills High School, Debra completed the Allied Health program and following graduation she went to work on the Medical Surgical floor at Stephens Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nurse Assistant.  In the fall, Debra would head to nursing school at St. Joseph’s College in Standish where she achieved her bachelor’s degree in nursing.  To help fund her education, Debra shares that she was the recipient of the SMH Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship, which at the time was the largest scholarship awarded.

After receiving her nursing degree, Debra traveled to various locations such as; Florida, Hawaii, North Carolina and Germany with her husband, Mike who was active in the military.  During that time Debra held various nursing positions, which included a two year position in the Emergency Room at SMH.

Interested in furthering her education, Debra returned to Indiana State University to enroll in the graduate studies program to become a Nurse Practitioner.  In 2012 she received her Family Nurse Practitioner’s post-master’s certificate from Indiana State University.  When Mike retired from the military Debra and her family returned home.

After traveling the world and spending her time working and raising her family, Debra ended her journey where began in 1983.  Debra was excited to accept the Nurse Practitioner position with Oxford Hills Internal Medicine.  Of her new position Debra shares, “This is my community, and I am so happy to be back in my community working for such a wonderful practice.  Everyone from the front staff to the clinical staff and providers make such a great team and I am so happy to be a part of the exceptional care that is being delivered.”

Debra resides in South Paris with her husband Mike.  Together they have three children, Michael (age 21), Molly (age 17) and Matthew (age 11).
