Timothy A. Churchill, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Maine Health is pleased to announce Carl Costanzi has joined Healthy Oxford Hills as the new Let's Go! Oxford, Coordinator.
Let's Go! is a nationally recognized childhood healthy weight program designed to increase healthy eating and active living in children from birth -18. Let's Go! works in six sectors (schools, early childhood, after school programs, healthcare, workplace and community) to reach children and families where they live, study, work and play.
This program began in Portland approximately six years ago and has recently been introduced in other communities in the state of Maine and nationally. Initially this program will be focused on the Oxford Hills area and once successful will begin working with other communities in Oxford County.
Carl previously worked as a Molecular Biologist on Philadelphia for approximately 20 years before moving to Maine with his family. When he arrived in Maine he spent some time working as a carpenter. Carl then went on to cofound the Ganderia Middle School in Oxford, where he was the head teacher and responsible for developing the schools curriculum. He remains the Board President for Ganderia and also sits on the Board for the Boxberry School.
M. Patricia Cook, Vice President of Clinical Services at Stephens Memorial Hospital shares, "Establishing the Let's Go! 5210 program in the Oxford Hills is a giant step towards reaching our goals to reduce obesity and increase the number of children maintaining a healthy weight in Oxford County."
