Physical Therapist Join SMH Staff

Stephens Memorial Hospital's (SMH) Physical Rehabilitation Department Manager, Lissa Merrill, PT is pleased to announce that Physical Therapists Jarom Atwater, DPT, Amy  Bottomley, DPT, and Scott Bottomley, DPT, recently joined the physical therapy team.

The educational requirements for new physical therapist graduates have increased in recent years.  Each of these new therapists has Doctorate degrees in physical therapy which involves more extensive schooling, additional clinical experience and advanced pathology class work.

Jarom, from Old Town, Maine, is a graduate of Husson College.  Jarom has a strong interest in orthopaedics and aspires to be an orthopaedic certified specialist. Jarom and his family have recently moved to Norway.

Amy and Scott Bottomley, a husband-wife team, are graduates of the University of New England.  Amy's special interest is in neuro and balance training.   Scott's strong interest is in adult orthopaedics.  Scott and Amy recently purchased a home in Bethel where they hope to ski and snowboard on their days off.

Together, all new therapists will work in the outpatient department.  Amy will also work in the hospital setting.  Lissa shares, "The department is thrilled to have a group of new therapists.  Each one brings fresh ideas and skills.  The patients are going to enjoy working with them!"
