Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Service, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, is pleased to announce that Rebekah Brown was recently hired by MaineHealth and Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH) to be the Resource and Referral Specialist for the Medication Access Program at SMH.
"MedAccess" is a program to help make sure anyone who doesn't have prescription coverage but does meet drug company guidelines for free drug programs called, Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs), can receive prescribed medications. Help is also available for Medicare beneficiaries and some other patients.
Rebekah, who lives in the Casco area, was most recently an administrative associate at Maine Medical Center. Her expertise is in customer service and administrative support, and that is exactly what's necessary to make this new program successful.
Cook shares, "Rebekah will be working with physician offices, inpatients and outpatients to complete the necessary paperwork so that patients can receive the medications they need. She will collect their information, fill out all the forms and mail them to the patient and the physician for signatures. The signed forms are then sent to the drug company and she will follow-up with them to be sure the medications are sent directly to the patient or to the physician's office for pick up, according to the drug company's policy. The process can take from 2 weeks to 2 months. Rebekah's assistance to patients will be invaluable in helping to streamline this process."
If you would like to contact Rebekah for medication access assistance you may call 877-275-1787 - you will be connected with her local office at the Healthy Oxford Hills building adjacent the hospital parking lot on Main St. in Norway.
