Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Service, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, is pleased to announce that 4 new Registered Nurses were hired at Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH) recently.
The new RNs spent the day on June 14th touring the hospital, meeting clinical managers, and beginning their orientation; when finished they will have completed 12 weeks of a multidisciplinary orientation training. Three RNs have joined the Medical Surgical Department: Jess Komulainen, of Bryant Pond who earned her associates degree in Nursing from UMA, Linda Putnam of Andover and Melanie Judd of Mechanic Falls, who each earned their associates degree in nursing at CMMC School of nursing. Both Jess and Melanie had clinical rotations at SMH while in nursing school; Linda served as a volunteer in the Family Birthplace. Regarding the fourth nurse to join SMH, the Emergency Services Department welcomes Jamie Rossignol of Hebron who earned her bachelor's degree in nursing at USM. Jamie also did clinical rotations on the Medical/Surgical department at SMH.
Lisa Heald, Staff Educator at SMH, shares, "Our new grad program began in 2007 and takes a multidisciplinary approach to both the orientation and integration of nurse graduates into the SMH family. We intertwine class days with unit specific orientation as a way to directly connect theory with hospital protocol and clinical practice. At the completion of orientation, graduates are more knowledgeable about hospital resources and prove to be more successful in their nursing practice. We are excited to welcome Jamie, Linda, Jessica, and Melanie."
