ER Accepts Toy Donation

NORWAY, ME - Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, announced recently that the Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH) Emergency Department was the recipient of the latest batch of wooden toys from Thomas Christensen, a member of The Toymakers of Bangor.


Toymakers is an organization begun in Florida which makes toys for children in difficult situations.  Mr. Christensen has been making and distributing toys for several years to hospitals and shelters throughout the state.  He shares that his goal is, "to provide toys for each hospital in the state and I am adding hospitals as I am able to produce more toys." To aid in his effort, Mr. Christensen receives donations and discounted supplies from businesses in the Bangor area.


Nurse Director of Emergency Services, Darlene Glover, RN, states, ""The Emergency Services staff is thrilled with this donation of handmade toys.  The ability to give a toy to a sick or injured child will make their experience much less traumatic. We are very grateful to these expert toymakers for their generosity."
