A Friday Farmer's Market has kicked off at Stephens Memorial Hospital. The market will be in the parking lot next to the Human Resources Building on Winter St. in Norway - across from Amato's on Friday afternoon from 12 pm - 4 pm.
Jessica Paradis, from the Oxford Hills Food Collaborative will bring a wide variety of food from local and statewide farms. Each week the market will feature a "guest exhibitor" with local products to sell. The first week, Cindy from Meadow Ridge Perennial Farm was on hand. Both remarked that the first market was very successful.
The Collaborative is working in cooperation with Healthy Oxford Hills and The Progress Center to bring healthy, local food to the Oxford Hills.
Roberta Metivier, Vice President of Human Resources for Western Maine Health stated that, "The farmers market being held at SMH is in support of our MaineHealth WOW! Works on Wellness initiative for employee wellness. Having the farmers market right on site is great incentive for the employees to shop local and eat healthy."
At the SMH Farmer's Market there is a wide array of food - from greens and carrots, to soaps, oils, meats, eggs, cheeses, bread, tomatoes, potatoes, and plants.
