Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, announced recently that Stephens Memorial Hospital Registered Nurses Jo Elliott, RN, BSN and Lisa Heald, RN, BSN successfully completed their Bachelor of Nursing degrees in December.
Elliot has been employed on the Medical/Surgical department at SMH for five years. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing at USM. Jo also holds a bachelor of science in Nutrition. Within the last year she attained a Clinical Level III status as well as earning her Medical/Surgical Nurse Certification. With a special interest in diabetic care, Jo is a member of the Blood Glucose Improvement Task Force as well as the Nursing Evidence Based Practice and Research Council and Leadership and Coordinating Council.
At a gathering held in their honor, Anita Day, Nurse Manager for Medical/Surgical and the Intensive Care Unit, says of Jo, "When you began 5 years ago you we quickly became aware of your excellence, you have accomplished so much and we are proud of you."
Heald, who works in Staff Development, earned her bachelor of science in Nursing degree at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Lisa is a member of the Evidence Based Practice and Research Council, serves as chair of the Education Council.
In acknowledging her achievement Anita Day shares, "You quickly became invaluable to us all, and have shown us what it means to do it right! We are thankful to have you as a member of our team"
