SMH Auxiliary Honored
Several dozen past Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary members were honored on Wednesday, September 30th at the Bethel Inn and Country Club in Bethel at a tea.
Members ranging in age from 50 to 94 were on hand to celebrate each other, their valuable contributions to the hospital, and Auxiliary memorabilia.
Andrea Burns, Stephens Memorial Hospital Trustee and former Auxiliary President, welcomed guests and thanked them for all they have done over the years to support the hospital. The group was also addressed by Stephens Memorial Hospital Trustee, Wendy Penley, who stated that they have served as mentors for her and the new generation of volunteers. Mrs. Penley's mother was also a member of the Auxiliary.
Barbara Allen, Vice President of Development and Community Relations, closed the program thanking the past auxiliary members and discussing the physician shortage in Maine. Ms. Allen also spoke about Stephens Memorial Hospital's recent designation as a teaching site for the new Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine. The celebration closed with a video featuring the Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine program.
