SMH Passes Nuclear Medicine Inspection

Timothy A. Churchill, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Maine Health was pleased to announced that Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH) has successfully passed the State of Maine Nuclear Medicine Safety Inspection.

This inspection occurs unannounced, every 3 years, Rick Dillon, Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the Nuclear Medicine Department at SMH since 2000, states that, "This inspection covers the storage and use of radioactive drugs; the department operates every day as if that could be the day of inspection."

Tim Ingram, CRA, Director of Clinical Diagnostics announced to staff, "I am pleased to share that Rick and the department received a finding of "no violations"  This is high praise from the state, this survey examined all aspects of activities conducted under our license including procedures, records, personnel, and equipment."

The Nuclear Medicine department at SMH has been operating for 30 years and serves over 1,000 patients every year.
