MSHCC Resident Celebrates 100 Years!

Market Square Health Care Resident Phemie Russell was honored by staff on Tuesday, July 21st on her 100th birthday!  Staff made 100 cupcakes to share with Ms. Russell and staff!  Russell has been a resident of the Residential Care unit of Market Square since February of this year, she is from Norway.

Where did this idea come from?  Market Square Activities Director Lynne Wheeler shared that one of her staff members was talking with Russell about her upcoming birthday and she had made a remark about having a cupcake for every year of your birthday.  The employee, Vicki Merrill, began thinking about this and to celebrate the birthday, she and fellow employees: Wheeler, Barbara Townsend, Karole-Ann Keniston, Tovah and Aaron Callina all made cupcakes to bring in to surprise Russell.

How did Russell feel about the cupcakes?  One simple sentence says it all, "This made my day, my night tonight, and my day tomorrow, too."
