SMH Christmas Baby Comes Home!

Courtney Brackett and Raymond Denbow of Norway welcomed their daughter, Lillian Rayne on Christmas Day 2008.  Lillian arrived very quickly and very early, at 31 weeks gestation.  She was slightly over 3 lbs when she was born 9 weeks early by emergent caesarean section under the watchful eye and hands of Dr. Summermatter and the Family Birthplace nurses.

Lillian was transferred from the Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital down to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Maine Medical Center for specialized care.  6 weeks later, she was able to go home.  That was February 6th, a Christmas miracle fulfilled.  Lillian is growing and is happily up to 8 lbs, 6 oz.

A month later on March 10th the couple brought Lillian in to visit the nurses at the Family Birthplace and thank them for their care.  Courtney shares, "Dr. Summermatter was great, and Kelly and Diane were great - they were right there all the time.  We want to thank SMH for everything they did for us."

Part of Stephens Memorial Hospital, The Family Birthplace offers an integrated, family- approach to childbirth in a private, secure and comfortable setting. The caring staff works closely with expectant parents to create a memorable birthing experience, encouraging siblings and other family members to be involved in the process.  For more information please visit our website at or call 207-743-1562 x380.
