Watson Receives Renewed Diabetes Educator Certification

Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, announced recently that Patricia Watson MS, RD, CDE, Registered Dietician at Stephens Memorial Hospital and Ambulatory Diabetes Education and Follow-Up Program (ADEF) Instructor, has received renewed status as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE®).

Watson has been with SMH for 19 years.  Cook shares, "Pat is very knowledgeable and down to earth, it is easy for patients to talk with her, and she makes sure she is able to explain things to them in a way that they will understand."

Renewal of the CDE status is achieved by completing a continuing education renewal process and demonstrating knowledge that helps promote quality of care for people with diabetes.  Achieving the CDE credential demonstrates to people with diabetes and employers that the health care professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes.

Stephens Memorial Hospital is an affiliate of MaineHealth.
