Safe Sitter® ( is a medically accurate program that teaches 11 to 15 year-olds how to be safe, nurturing babysitters.  The goal of the Safe Sitter® program is to reduce the number of avoidable and unintentional deaths among children being cared for by babysitters.

Students get hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques so they are prepared to act in a crisis.  They learn safety and security precautions, such as what to do if a stranger comes to the door.  They learn basic child development as well as the business aspects of babysitting.

This is the final class of the year, future classes will be scheduled for the school breaks of 2009.

Please call The Family Birthplace at 207-743-1562 x380 to sign up for classes and further information.  The fee is $50 for the 2 day class.
