Adams Receives Renewed Diabetes Certified 

Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, announced recently that Doreen Adams, RN, BSN, CDE the Diabetes Nurse Educator for the Stephens Memorial Hospital Diabetes Education Program has received renewed status as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE®).

Doreen has been with SMH for over a year, and has experience as a staff nurse, diabetes resource nurse and charge nurse.  For the past 13 years she has been a home health nurse with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, providing both care and case management as well as acting as the diabetes nurse specialist for the agency.

Doreen is a graduate of the Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing with her RN, and most recently from the University of Southern Maine with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing.  She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

Renewal of the CDE status is achieved by completing a continuing education renewal process and demonstrating knowledge that helps promote quality of care for people with diabetes.
