Talon Achieves, Kahkonen Maintains
Status of Clinical Level III Nurse
Registered nurses Amy
Kahkonen, RN has achieved the status of Level III
Nursing for the third time, and Diane Talon, RN-C has
obtained the status of Clinical Nurse III in the Nursing
Advancement Program at Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH).
The Nursing Advancement Program was established to
enhance professional growth and development, and
recognize achievements. Level III Clinical Nurses
demonstrate consistently high standards of caring,
expertise, professional behavior, leadership,
communication skills and extraordinary attention to
Amy has been employed
in the Medical Surgical Department at Stephens Memorial
Hospital for 15 years and is "an invaluable member of
the team," according to Nurse Director Anita Day.
In addition to her Clinical Level III Status, Amy has
her ANCC Medical Surgical Certification and actively
participates on the Nursing Clinical Advancement and
Amy lives in Otisfield
with her husband and two young daughters.
Diane is a nurse on
The Family Birthplace at SMH, she has been here for
nearly 5 years. She is Certified in
electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and teaches EFM to SMH
nurses as well as nurses from other hospitals.
Alison Newton, Nurse Director of the Family Birthplace
states, "Diane is a highly skilled nurse in OB and has
been a very enthusiastic participant on the Evidence
Based Practice Council, which mirrors her commitment to
the nursing profession."
