In a Heartbeat Presentation Well Received in Bethel

Rebecca Chagrasulis, M.D. Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at Stephens Memorial Hospital was in Bethel at The Bethel Inn Resort on Wednesday morning, June 25th to present "In a Heartbeat" Heart Attack survival program.

Dr. Chagrasulis presented on the symptoms of heart attacks and how they differ between males and females, she put on the hat of a Paramedic and discussed the valuable role of first responders to a person's survival and stressed the importance of calling 911 if you believe you are having a heart attack rather than driving yourself or having a family member bring you to the emergency room.  She also discussed the impressive "Code Purple" response time which is aimed at getting patients "clot busting drugs" fast and transporting them to the Cardiac Cath lab if needed as quickly as possible.  Stephens Memorial Hospital has been consistently lowering their response time for a number of years.

She also addressed individual questions and several people shared their experiences of survival with the group.
