Safe Sitter® Class at SMH a Success

Stephens Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the successful completion of the February Safe Sitter® class on February 22nd with 11 participants.

Safe Sitter® ( is a medically accurate program that teaches 11 to 15 year-olds how to be safe, nurturing babysitters.  The goal of the Safe Sitter® program is to reduce the number of avoidable and unintentional deaths among children being cared for by babysitters.  The class teaches infant and child CPR, safety for the sitter, business practices and how to entertain children, among other things.

Future dates for classes in 2008 are: April 23 & 25, June 18 & 20, July 16 & 18, and August 13 &15.  All classes are two days.  Please call The Family Birthplace at 207-743-1562 x380 to sign up for classes and further information.  The fee is $50 for the 2 day class.
