Doreen Taylor Appointed Diabetes Nurse Educator

Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook, RN, MBA, EdD, announced recently that Doreen Taylor, RN, BSN, CDE has been appointed to the position of Diabetes Nurse Educator for the Stephens Memorial Hospital Diabetes Education Program.

Doreen comes to SMH with 6 years of experience as a staff nurse, diabetes resource nurse and charge nurse.  For the past 13 years she has been a home health nurse with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, providing both care and case management as well as acting as the diabetes nurse specialist for the agency.

Doreen is a graduate of the Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing with her RN, and most recently from the University of Southern Maine with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing.  She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

Cook explains that, "At SMH Doreen will teach classes for our Certified Diabetes Education program as well as provide individualized counseling to patients and their families."
