Stephens Memorial Services Names Porter Rood Volunteer Coordinator

NORWAY, ME - Timothy A. Churchill, President and CEO of Western Maine Health announced recently that Patty Porter Rood was recently named the new Volunteer Coordinator at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Patty has a BS in Microbiology and Public Health from Washington State University.  She did her internship in Medical Technology at Deaconess Hospital, Spokane, Washington, before working as Medical Technologist in Washington State and Idaho.  She is a member of American Society of Clinical Pathology.  Patty also did research and teaching at Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine.   After coming to Maine, and for the past 18 years, she has worked with husband in law practice as office manager/legal secretary.

Of her appointment to this new position, Patty shares, "Volunteerism is an integral component of services provided by hospitals and related healthcare organizations.  I am looking forward to being a part of that and exploring new and different volunteer opportunities.  One such opportunity, in particular, is that of a Junior Volunteer program."

Patty is familiar with the area after coming to the Norway from Idaho 21 years ago.  Patty has lived in Waterford for 18 years and has one son, Joe, who will be a Senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
