SMH SVS Announce Stengelsen Exhibit

NORWAY, ME - Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy Churchill has announced that Norway artist David Stengelsen has returned to the hospital for a new exhibition scheduled to run from July 1st through August 31, 2007.  Subjects in the show include landscapes, portraits and florals, all in lush colors on large canvases.

Stengelsen has lived in the Norway area for 20 years after being raised in Minnesota and living for many years in Long Beach, Los Angeles and San Francisco California.  Stengelsen has pursued his passion for painting since childhood and was an active painter throughout high school and college.

On occasion he paints commissioned portraits.

Stengelsen paints in oil on large canvases.  Among his influences he lists German expressionist painters Ernst Kirshner and Oscar Kokoshka, as well as, American painters Milton Avery, Alex Katz, Fairfield Porter and Philip Guston.

Concurrently with his exhibition at Stephens Memorial Hospital, Mr. Stengelsen is also showing paintings at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison.

Stephens Volunteer Services works with local artists and artisans to provide year round exhibition at the hospital.
