WMH Librarian Honored

NORWAY, ME - Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy A. Churchill announced today Deborah Clark, librarian for Western Maine Health, received the 2007 Eleanor C. Cairns Award for distinguished librarianship in the Health Science Libraries and Information Consortium of Maine (HSLIC).
HSLIC, which is the professional organization for all health sciences libraries in the state, includes hospitals, research facilities, and academic institutions. Deb has been an active member of the HSLIC Board and has recently spear-headed a federal grant project to outfit most hospital and academic libraries in Maine with the Ariel electronic document delivery system which enables libraries to quickly provide high quality journal article reprints to healthcare professionals, researchers, academic instructors, and students.

Deb has been employed by WMH since 1999 and oversees the medical and consumer health libraries at SMH. She will be honored at the annual Maine Hospital Association's Allied Professionals Luncheon on June 21.


The Health Information Library is open to the public Monday-Thursday, from 10 AM- 4 PM and is staffed by a professional librarian to provide patients, students, and the public with the quality health information they need to make good health decisions.  Contact Deborah Clark at 743-1562 x323 or clarkd@wmhcc.org for more details.
