Chagrasulis Appointed to Maine EMS Board

October 2006 - NORWAY, ME  – Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy A. Churchill recently announced that Dr. Rebecca Chagrasulis, an emergency physician at Stephens Memorial Hospital, has been appointed  to the state Emergency Medical Services Board as representative from Tri-County EMS.  Dr. Chagrasulis has previously served on the board as physician representative.

 

Dr. Chagrasulis has been practicing at Stephens Memorial Hospital since 1987, when she was part time; she became a full time practicing physician at the hospital in 2000.  During her tenure at SMH she has served as the Medical Director of PACE Paramedic Service, monitoring pre-hospital care of patients, and she is currently the Director of the Emergency Department.  

 

Of her appointment to the Emergency Medical Services Board Dr. Chagrasulis says, “I am looking forward to participating at the state level on the Board of EMS, and representing our EMS region, the tri-county region includes, Lewiston , Rumford, and Norway hospitals.  We will continue to work within our region, and at the state level to coordinate service for disaster planning and management, and work toward mutual goals of rapid transport for cardiac and trauma patients who need to go to specialty center.”

 

Dr. Chagrasulis earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her training at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville , SC.   She is Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  Before coming to SMH she was the State EMS Medical Director for four years.  Dr. Chagrasulis is currently a member of the National Association of EMS Physicians and is on the Maine Committee for Trauma.
