Articulate the appropriate utilization of urodynamic studies as well as their role in the treatment of voiding dysfunction
Identify patients with voiding dysfunction who may benefit from neuromodulation and understand the application of this treatment
Recognize the possible complications of mesh used to treat pelvic prolapse and incontinence
Express an understanding of the various treatment modalities available to the patient with symptomatic pelvic prolapse

About the keynote speaker: Andrew Charles Peterson, MD, FACS
Dr. Peterson received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire. He completed his surgery internship at Madigan Army Medical Center in 1996. He then served for two years as the Brigade Surgeon for the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division until 1998. He completed his urology desidency at Madigan Army Medical Center in 2002 and subsequently completed a fellowship in Reconstructive Urology, Female Urology and Urodynamics at Duke University in
Durham, North Carolina in 2003.
While at Madigan Army Medical Center, Dr. Peterson served as the Chief of Reconstructive Urology and the director of the Urology residency. He also served as the chairman of the institutional animal
care and use committee (IACUC), and was on the institutional review board (IRB). Dr. Peterson served on the American Urologic Association guidelines committee as well as the program and essay committee for the Western Section of the American Urologic Association.
Dr. Peterson recently joined the faculty at Duke University where he currently serves as the Vice Chief of Medical Operations and the Urology residency program director. He has published more than 50
publications and abstracts in the peer reviewed literature in addition to eight book chapters. He currently serves on the review panel of multiple peer reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Urologic Association, the Society for Government Service Urologists, the Society for Urology Chairmen and Program Directors, and serves on the board of directors for the Society for Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons.
