Description   Program Description and Objectives:

Through didactic lectures by experts in the field, and through hands-on experience on work stations that will be available for use, participants will gain knowledge of the current state-of-the-art of 3D echocardiography including its capabilities, limitations, and use in everyday cardiology practice. Both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography will be covered. At the completion of the course, participants will:

1. Know current indications for 3D echocardiography including most common utilization

2. Recognize common pathology in 3D images

3. Know etiology of and recognize imaging artifacts.

4. Recognize limitations to 3D EF determinations

5. Perform common 3D manipulations with data sets to analyze left ventricular function and mitral valve pathology
