Cheryl Lee Rust, Spring Harbor Board Officer and MeHAF Board Chair Honored as Mid Coast Community Builder

MeHAF Board of Trustees Chairperson, Cheryl Rust, was honored recently with a "Community Builder" Award by the United Way of Mid Coast Maine at its annual meeting.  In her remarks, outgoing Board Chair Holly Stover observed the depth and long-term connection that Cheryl has had to the community of Wiscasset through her ownership of La Garage restaurant

"For many teenagers in town, Le Garage is where they learn responsibility, and loyalty, and the value of a job well done," said Stover. Among many other employment practices, she praised the restaurant as a place where employees have stayed for 10, 15 or 20 years, whose employees include people with developmental disabilities, and that offers health insurance to employees. Stover also cited Cheryl Rust's extensive volunteer service on the boards of vital non-profits, her visiting schools for career workshops and to discuss the dangers of underage drinking; and Le Garage's support of a Wiscasset High School student scholarship, the Holiday Gift Tree program, Hodgdon Green, United Way, and "no doubt more charities than she will ever tell us." Of course MeHAF benefits consistently from Cheryl's wisdom, experience, leadership and compassion for Maine people.  Congratulations!
