Spring Harbor Hospital Board Names New Officers

(February 6, 2008)- The Board of Trustees of Spring Harbor Hospital has announced its new officers for 2008:

Brian Rines, PhD., of South Gardiner has been named Chair of the Spring Harbor Hospital Board. Dr. Rines brings extensive experience in the fields of clinical and forensic psychology to his new role, as well as a history of strong service to the community. He is an experienced board director and civic leader, having served as Chairman of the Maine Hospital Association Board, Chairman of the MaineGeneral Health Board, and as a seven-term Mayor of Gardiner. Dr. Rines additionally serves as Chairman of the Dirigo Program Advisory Council on Health Systems Development, which oversees the implementation of the State of Maine Health Plan. He has been a member of the Spring Harbor Hospital Board since 1999.

Frank H. Parker, of Freeport, has been named Vice Chair of the Spring Harbor Board. Mr. Parker brings to the Board more than 40 years’ experience in the financial services industry, most recently as President of Bath Savings & Trust Company, from which he retired last year. He is a Director of the Casco Bay YMCA, Treasurer of the Alzheimer’s Association of Maine, and Past President and Advisory Committee Member of Friendship House. Mr. Parker’s community service also includes volunteer work for the United Way and Mercy Hospital. He has been a member of the Spring Harbor Hospital Board for 9 years.

Cheryl Rust, of Wiscasset, is Spring Harbor Hospital’s new Board Secretary. Ms. Rust is the longtime owner of Wiscasset’s popular Le Garage Restaurant. She currently holds a number of community posts, including member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Team for Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services, Secretary of the Maine Health Access Foundation Board, and Secretary of the Board for Mid Coast Health Services in Brunswick. Ms. Rust is a member of both the Bath-Brunswick Region Chamber of Commerce and the Safe & Healthy Community Issue Council of the United Way of Midcoast Maine. She is Past President of Shoreline Community Mental Health Services and was previously affiliated with the Maine Hospital Association’s Governance Council. Ms. Rust has been a member of the Spring Harbor Hospital Board for 9 years.
