Adults: Inpatient Services
Spring Harbor Hospital devotes more than forty beds on its second floor to the treatment of adults who experience acute psychiatric illness and co-occurring disorders. Our program delivers the most sophisticated strategies currently available to return patients to normal functioning more quickly than in any other setting. Treatment emphasizes return-to-work strategies and cognitive therapies to help patients make the smoothest possible transition from the hospital in the shortest possible time.
Our care-giving team includes a psychiatrist as well as psychiatric nurses, social workers, and technicians who specialize in the treatment of major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and co-occurring disorders . Discharge planners assist in securing timely and appropriate aftercare services. Average length of stay for adult patients is approximately seven days.
Patient amenities include both private and semi-private rooms, each featuring a private bath, wardrobe, writing desk, and views of the wooded grounds and recreational areas. Treatment areas provide ample accommodations, including designated rooms for family meetings and individual consultations between physician and patient, as well as spacious open-living areas. Outdoors, a reflecting pool and gazebo are the focal points of the adult courtyard, which is designed for meditation, short strolls, and conversation. An indoor gym, fitness room, and ample walking opportunities are the mainstay of the recreational therapy program.
