Jeff Sanders serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Maine Medical Center, the state's leading academic and research-based tertiary care center, (including the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital), and Northern New England's premiere health care facility and verified Level 1 trauma center.
An experienced health care operations professional, Sanders is responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the 637-bed flagship member of the MaineHealth system. He serves as a key strategic advisor to the President and CEO and other senior executives and physician leaders. Sanders plays a critical role in the effective collaboration and integration with physicians, developing strong relationships and initiatives aimed at strengthening market presence and integrating services and practice sites. Sanders' efforts focus on service and operational excellence, program growth, quality, culture enhancement and physician relationships.
Sanders' extensive and diverse experience includes work as a consultant in a top three accounting firm, managerial and senior executive-level positions in a mid-size community hospital and large tertiary care center, in addition to his experience in government relations and policy formulation - having served as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator George Mitchell.
A confident and articulate leader with a participatory management style, Sanders' direct and fact-based approach is enhanced by a comfortable and relaxed manner. Driven by consensus, but not paralyzed by it, Sanders combines solid interpersonal skills with a strong bias for execution.
Sanders earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, and his Master's of Healthcare Administration degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
