 John Heye serves as Vice President of Finance for Maine Medical Center - the state's leading academic and research-based tertiary care center; Northern New England's premiere hospital; and the state's only American College of Surgeon's verified Level 1 trauma center.
An experienced health care finance professional, Heye is responsible for long-range strategic financial planning for Maine Medical Center and its subsidiary organizations. He contributes to the overall management of Maine Medical Center and participates in both short and long-term planning to ensure the financial integrity and stability of Maine Medical Center. He is responsible for the Revenue Cycle Management function, General Accounting, Cost Accounting, the Internal Control Environment, Investments, and the entity's Debt Structure.
A principled leader, Heye has established a culture of efficiency in the day-to-day finance operations of Maine Medical Center. He acts as a steward of the organization's resources, preserving value by ensuring the organization's compliance with financial reporting and regulatory requirements. Heye mentors others to focus on establishing a value attitude, gaining alignment to identify, evaluate and execute strategic operational direction. He serves as a partner with other decision-makers, creating a structure of accountability for results that drives execution. Heye also assists in enhancing organizational performance and value, providing a financial perspective on innovation and growth, leveraging this perspective to improve risk-awareness, strategic decision-making, and performance management.
With more than 35 years in the health care industry, Heye's experience includes managerial and executive-level positions in community hospitals, mid-size community teaching hospitals, and a large tertiary/quaternary care and academic medical center plus working as a consultant.
Heye earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan and his Masters of Management Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Heye's community involvement includes numerous leadership roles on boards for not-for-profit organizations such as Spring Harbor Hospital, MMC Realty Corp., MMC Clinical Services Support Corp., and numerous condominium associations. He also serves on the board of Maine Molecular Imaging.
