“Art of Caring” raises over $47,000 for home health care
(Saco, Maine) Home Health-Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine raised over $47,000 at the 4th annual Art of Caring Gala held on May 20, 2005 at the Black Point Inn, Scarborough. The gala attracted over 170 guests who included community and business leaders throughout Southern Maine. 38 pieces of art were auctioned at this benefit to include top bids in the range of $800 - $1700 for noted artists Anne Gable Allaire, Ed Betts, Dewitt Hardy, Paul Bonneau, Ann Legg, Ann Burnett Hidell, SC Schoneberg, Claudette Gamache, Louise Frechettee, Norman West, and David Little.
Featured silent auction artists secured top bids for wood sculpture, Huston & Company; textiles, Angela Adams; bronze, Gary Mulnix; glass, Portland Glassblowers; jewelry, Folia; and photography, B.A. King. Event sponsors UNICEL, with contributing support from UNUM-Provident, Holden Agency, Kennebunk Savings Bank, Maine Bank and Trust, Maine Medical Center, Saco Biddeford Savings, Atria, Byram, H.D. HomeHealth—Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine is a merger of Community Health Services and Visiting Nurse Service. The agency is a not-for-profit home health agency dedicated to providing home health services, including skilled nursing and rehabilitative therapies, throughout Southern Maine. Last year, the agency provided over 110,000 home visits to over 5500 patients throughout Cumberland and York Counties.
