Matter of Balance Highlighted in National Report

The Matter of Balance program, a national program adminstrated by MaineHealth, was recently recognized in a national report A Healthier America 2013 published by Trust for America’s Health. The Matter of Balance program is designed to increase falls management skills, reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels for older adults. 

Widely used in Maine through the Area Agencies on Aging, Matter of Balance is offered in 38 states. Over 35,000 older adults have participated in the program since 2006. 

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has included the program in its evaluation of selected evidence-based disease and disability prevention programs in order to determine the impact of participation on the healthcare utilization of older adults.
