Portland, ME - October 26, 2009 - MaineHealth, a not-for-profit family of leading high-quality providers and other healthcare organizations, has distributed its community benefit report for fiscal year 2008. The report, which spotlights some of the most compelling human-interest stories across the MaineHealth system, illustrates both the wide range of services provided by the members of MaineHealth and the wide cross-section of people for whom services are provided.

To complement the patient stories, the community benefit report details the financial value of unreimbursed services provided - more than $189 million in fiscal year 2008. The report also includes an overview of many MaineHealth system programs aimed at improving access to preventive and primary care services.
