Maine Medical Center selects eDischarge® for Patient Placements -
eDischarge Seen as Key Component of Performance Improvement Initiatives
NEWTON, MASS., (February 18, 2003) — CuraSpan, Inc., a leading provider of connectivity and network management tools across the post-acute-care continuum, today announced that Maine Medical Center (MMC) has selected the eDischarge® platform to place patients more efficiently and effectively into post-acute care. eDischarge is the Internet-based discharge planning solution that connects hospitals, post-acute-care providers, payors, and transportation companies across one common platform, thereby eliminating redundant case management tasks, including phone calls and faxes. In addition, the platform supports compliance with the final HIPAA guidelines and is a recognized best practice for expediting patient throughput.
"After seeing the eDischarge platform, we quickly identified our discharge process as a good candidate for our performance and quality initiatives," said Dr. David Bachman, Associate Vice President of Inpatient Management and a member of MMC's Center for Performance Improvement. "With eDischarge, we will now have the tools necessary to make our discharge process more efficient and effective, while monitoring the results against our aggressive performance goals."
"We are very excited to start the rollout of our first eDischarge network in New England and believe that MMC, which was recently named one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the country, is an ideal partner for this launch," noted Tom Ferry, President and CEO of CuraSpan. "Given MMC's great relationships with its post-acute-care partners and its history of leveraging information technology across the hospital, it is only natural that we would work with them to provide a way to make that same information available immediately and securely across the entire post-acute-care continuum."
