HomeHealth-Visiting Nurses Provides Flu Shots

Saco- HomeHealth-Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine will begin holding its annual flu shot clinics on Wednesday, October 12th. The organization offers flu shot clinics at community locations throughout Cumberland and York Counties. 

Each year approximately 3 – 6 million people in the United States get influenza, a contagious viral disease that is commonly known as the flu. Serious cases of flu can lead to hospitalization and 36,000 Americans die each year from flu-related complications. 

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that all people over 65, anyone over the age of 2 with a chronic disease (and their caretakers), pregnant women and children between 6 months and 23 months old be vaccinated before the start of flu season which runs from November through January. 

There is a fee of $20 for a flu shot. HomeHealth-Visiting Nurses accepts Medicare Part B as payment at the clinics, but is unable to accept private insurance cards. Please bring your Medicare card to the clinic.
